ECHA increases biocides fees by 19.5% following cumulative inflation
The European Commission has amended Implementing Regulation (EU) No 564/2013, raising the regulatory costs for procedures under the Biocidal Products Regulation
04 Aug 2025From 14 August 2025, Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1490 will take effect, updating the fees applied by ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) for activities under the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR, EU No 528/2012). The adjustment, previously announced in the draft revision of Reg. 564/2012, reflects a cumulative inflation rate of 19.5%, calculated on the average annual rates from 2021 to 2023.
This update is directly applicable and mandatory in all EU Member States and concerns every company active in the biocides sector. In the current context of widespread inflation, the fee increase becomes a crucial factor for companies to consider when planning regulatory compliance strategies and economic forecasting for the placing on the market of biocidal products.
